Trash The Bouquet Session

You’ve all heard of a Trash The Dress session – but I invented a Trash The Bouquet session! It’s a very unique way I give my wedding clients a beautiful addition to the wedding day photography! It started with one of my awesome couples, Mike & Madlyn Dawson, who were open to really having some fun for their bridal pictures the day of their wedding, coordinated by Tammy of Special Moments. After doing some really cool stuff including having Mike roof surf a golf cart while his new bride tried to kill him (no not really, OK maybe a little) I setup some sweet last shots as the sun headed over the horizon. Madlyn had a GORGEOUS bouquet arraigned by Iza’s Flowers and it really popped in all the photos of the day! But here we were near the end, and it was just going to sit on the table for a few more hours then be tossed – they were off to the honeymoon after all, and it would never be seen again. So I thought hey – let’s have some fun with it! It did take a little convincing, but I knew the shots I already had in my head would be awesome – and they were! It culminated with a huge vertical toss showing the excitement of the day! Actually to me the best part was the look on Iza’s face when I told her what we did to her flowers But after she saw the final result I think she felt better…a little better at least

2010 Escape from Fort DeSoto Triathlon

This was the 2010 Escape from Fort DeSoto Triathlon with over 1,100 participants completing the grueling course of swim, bike run! The weather was picture perfect at Ft. DeSoto Park with sun, breeze and 75 deg temps! Ages ran from young teens to 80′s and finish times from 1 hour to just over 3! All photos will be available through Fotojack.com in the next couple days!

Sequoia Path

Stopping in the Sequoia National Forest for what was supposed to be a quick hike up an easy paved path for a scenic overlook, I found myself what seemed to be alone for miles. It was virtually silent and still. The sun was barely penatrating the canopy and if it weren’t for the few signs of man around me I would have thought I was the first one ever there. Needless to say no hike is easy at these kinds of altitudes, and my hurried hike turned into a rather paced one!

Getting up every morning at 4am just to be in the right spot pre-dawn was never so much fun. Even though it was below freezing until the sun came up, even though my finger tips went numb in between sits in the car with the heater on – it is worth it every time. This is from the valley floor along the Merced River about 2 miles down from the Lodge. The water level was very low (November) so I was able to actually walk the riverbed itself dozens of feet from the actual banks. With a thick coat of frost on every leaf and nothing moving, it seemed very surreal.

Maui Mist

This was taken just after sunrise in the middle of a volcano park. As the sun rose up, the mists started flowing over the peaks, evaporating like whispy ghosts. The black of the rock started to contrast with the sparse greenery starting to show below the thick misty cover. Visability was limited to only a couple thousand feet, beyond that it was like flying in the clouds.
